$46 $92

Our unbelievable Henley Long Sleeve Tee Dress is named after MAYA ANGELOU (1928-2014) - an inspirational woman to people all around the world!

She was an award-winning performer, writer + poet whose work helped to change our perspective + open our hearts + minds.

MAYA sadly suffered from a traumatic childhood but she used her pain + suffering all the way through her accomplished career in the arts + literature.

She became a Mother at the tender age of 16 + married a Greek man which at the time was forbidden as interracial marriages were illegal by law. But she didn't care + recognized then that love is love + that we should all let love be love.

MAYA used her voice + became a civil rights activist. Working alongside with Martin Luther King Jr. + Malcolm X. Writing 36 books, many of which were on the "banned book list" in her time. She also holds the record of the longest-running nonfiction book on the New York Times' bestseller list! She was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, won 3 Grammy's, served on 2 Presidential committees + even became the first female poet to compose + recite a poem for a Presidential Inauguration (President Bill Clinton's in 1993). She received a shower of accolades towards the end of her life including the highest civilian honor, The Presidential Medal of Freedom, by President Barack Obama in 2010 which recognized her lifetime of work that helped to shape the way we think + paved the way to us becoming more accepting + inclusive.

MAYA is one inspiring Sister! Like her, our Henley Dress is for women everywhere. Designed intentionally to be flattering on an array of body times. Easy to wear with everything + fitting for all events - including at home on the couch. Made with our new, thicker, stretchy bamboo + organic jersey - it's perfect for this time of year.
